Have you had a recent (within 12 weeks) fracture or surgery? The Edge Sport Physical Therapy contracts with AHS to provide funded physiotherapy services for Albertans with recent fractures or select orthopedic surgeries/procedures (within 12 weeks of the injury only, unless exempt through special circumstance). Please call or email the clinic after booking your appointment, as additional intake forms and information may be required.

Have you had a recent motor vehicle collision? If you have been injured in a motor vehicle accident in Alberta, you are entitled to receive treatment for your injuries regardless of who is at fault. You can choose to attend any clinic for your rehabilitation, and your treatments will be billed directly to your insurance company. At The Edge Sport Physical Therapy, our experienced and caring physiotherapists are able to assess and treat a wide range of sports injuries, everyday injuries, and chronic conditions.
All assessments include a thorough evaluation, treatment plan, manual therapy, and corrective exercise program tailored to your specific needs and condition. Physiotherapists may also utilize other methods such as IMS/dry needling, acupuncture, and other soft tissue techniques. During your follow-up visits, you will receive, at minimum, 30 minutes (and often longer) of one-on-one care directly from your physiotherapist.

A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is a physiotherapist that is specialized in the management of upper limb conditions. CHT's must meet extensive educational, experience, and examination requirements, as well as completing thousands of hours of training in the diagnosis and treatment of hand and upper extremity conditions.
Some of the conditions treated by a CHT are wrist and hand fractures, post immobilization stiffness, injuries to the small joints of the fingers, mallet finger, trigger finger, post-surgical carpal tunnel release, 1st CMC osteoarthritis or arthroplasty, and tendon repairs. CHT's also fabricate custom thermoplastic splints to protect and enhance movement.

Janessa graduated from the University of Alberta in 2010 with a Masters of Physical Therapy.

Janessa has been practicing for nearly 15 years and enjoys treating a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions, with a special interest in knee, hip and shoulder injuries. Janessa is licensed to practice Gunn IMS dry needling, acupuncture (CAFCI), and manipulations. She utilises a combination of manual therapy and individualized exercise prescription to help her clients achieve their goals.

Janessa has also developed a special interest in pelvic health and how it relates to daily activities, as well as many other orthopaedic symptoms such as hip and back pain. She has completed extensive training to support clients with pelvic floor conditions such as incontinence, pain, prolapse, and pre/post-partum care. She is passionate about increasing awareness and access to proper care and support for pelvic health throughout every stage of life.

Alison graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2004 with a Masters of Physical Therapy.

With over 20 years of experience in orthopaedics, Alison has treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. She has completed extensive post-graduate training in Manual Therapy, and is licensed to practice Gunn IMS dry needling, and Acupuncture (CAFCI). She is also certified to order musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging.

Alison enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds - whether recovering from a sports injury or managing the physical demands of the game of “life”… She takes a hands-on, active approach to treatment, combining manual therapy with individualized exercise prescription to help her clients move and feel their best.

Melissa is a skilled physiotherapist with a degree in Physical Therapy from the U of A in 2015 and a Kinesiology degree from the U of C before that. Melissa appreciates the value of personalized, hands-on care for her clients, utilizing various forms of manual therapy and creating personalized exercise programs. Melissa has completed advanced manual therapy training through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division of Physical Therapy and is certified in functional dry needling through KinetaCore. She provides education to empower her clients to be active participants in their rehabilitation journey.

Allison graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 with a Masters of Physical Therapy. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Physiology from the same institution.

Allison has been practicing for nearly 14 years in the area of orthopedics, gaining experience in treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions. She is certified in functional dry needling (IMS) and has done extensive training in manual therapy techniques. She has been a part of the Southern Alberta Shoulder Care Clinic and has taken a special interest in shoulder assessment and treatment. She is currently working towards her certification to order musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging. Allison believes in an active treatment approach - a combination of hands-on techniques and individualized exercise prescription is a sure way to achieve optimal results.
